After an All-Conference career at Missouri, Ricker signed with the Chicago Bears as a free agent, but was released shortly after the preseason. Ricker then received a second opportunity in January of 2005 when the team assigned him to play alongside Bears teammate Bryan Anderson on the Rhein Fire’s offensive line. Ricker hopes to refine his skills and establish a name for himself during his tenure with the Fire, knowing that his return to training camp with the Chicago Bears will be very challenging. "Going back to training camp with the Bears is going to be tough, I know that they made a lot of off season transactions, getting some guys and losing a few. It is going to be an uphill battle, but definitely it is an opportunity I am looking forward to. I am just trying to get noticed and trying to make a name for myself while I am here to help me get onto an NFL roster."
